Hunger is not just one reason that makes you crave for food. Things like feeling low and upset can aggravate your craving for food. A new study reveals that, women are more prone to eating than men, especially if they are bored and upset.
Nutritionist Mary Strugar says that, controlling what to eat is not matter of willpower. It is all about being aware what to eat and understanding your relationship with food. This is one of the emotional reasons for overeating. In fact, some experts have estimated that 75% of our eating can be linked with our emotion which is not actually true hunger.
For example when we are bored at job, we tend to take a coffee break or grab a sweet bar candy or roll, bored at school, children tend to hit the vending machines for some oily and salty food, bored at home, we check out the fridge.
Why do we need to placate our boredom with food? Is it internal stimulus, the answer is no. But it is one of the simplest and easiest answers. It does not take much time to stuff something in your mouth and this sensation temporarily provides relief.
